Day 1: The Great I AM Reading: Exodus 3:1-14
Devotional: Today we encounter the powerful moment when God reveals Himself to Moses as "I AM WHO I AM." This name signifies God's eternal nature, self-existence, and unchanging character. As you reflect on this passage, consider how God has revealed Himself in your own life. Have there been "burning bush" moments where His presence was undeniable? Remember that the same God who spoke to Moses is speaking to you today. He is whatever you need Him to be - your comforter, provider, healer, or guide. Take time to fill in the blank: "God, I need you to be my _______." Trust that He is more than capable of meeting that need.
Day 2: Called for a Purpose Reading: Jeremiah 1:4-10
Devotional: Just as God called Moses for a specific purpose, He has a unique calling for each of us. Often, like Moses, we feel inadequate or unworthy of this calling. But today's passage reminds us that God knows us intimately and has plans for us even before we're born. What excuses have you made to avoid stepping into God's calling? Remember, it's not about your abilities, but about God's power working through you. Reflect on areas where you've sensed God's prompting but have hesitated to respond. Today, can you say like Moses, "Here I am"? Ask God for the courage to step out in faith, trusting that He will equip you for whatever He's calling you to do.
Day 3: Deliverance and Freedom Reading: Romans 6:15-23
Devotional: The Israelites' deliverance from Egyptian slavery parallels our own deliverance from the bondage of sin through Christ. Today's passage explores this theme of spiritual freedom. Paul reminds us that we are all slaves to something - either to sin or to righteousness. Consider what "taskmasters" you might be serving in your own life. Are there habits, addictions, or mindsets that are keeping you in bondage? Remember that Christ has set you free, but you must choose daily to live in that freedom. How can you practically "offer yourself as a slave to righteousness" today? Ask God to help you break free from any chains that are holding you back from fully serving Him.
Day 4: God's Presence in Suffering Reading: Psalm 23
Devotional: The Israelites cried out to God in their oppression, and He heard them. This familiar psalm reminds us that even in our darkest valleys, God is with us. Reflect on times in your life when you've felt God's presence during difficult circumstances. How did He comfort or guide you? Remember that the Good Shepherd doesn't just lead us to green pastures, but walks with us through the shadow of death. If you're currently in a "valley" season, take heart. God sees your suffering and is with you. How can you lean into His presence today? Ask Him to make His nearness tangible to you, even in the midst of your struggles.
Day 5: Trusting God's Plan Reading: Proverbs 3:5-6
Devotional: Moses had to trust God's plan, even when it seemed impossible. These verses from Proverbs encourage us to do the same. Trusting God often means surrendering our own understanding and plans. It requires faith to believe that His ways are higher than ours. Reflect on areas in your life where you're struggling to trust God. Are you trying to figure everything out on your own? Remember that God sees the bigger picture and is working all things for your good. Today, practice "acknowledging Him in all your ways" by intentionally inviting God into every decision and activity. Ask Him to make His paths clear to you and give you the courage to follow where He leads.
